DSS Provides Active Attacker Training

Although incidents involving an active attacker on university campuses are rare, the impact on the individuals and communities affected cannot be overstated. In this 60-minute training, the Department of Safety & Security talks about what the University's office of Threat Assessment, Emergency Management, and Police Department are doing to prevent, prepare for and, if needed, respond to an active attacker event. Participants learn about Emergency Notifications, how to report concerning behavior, and easy-to-remember options for people who are faced with a violent situation.

This event is free and open to all students, faculty, and Academic Division staff. Public trainings will resume in the fall. Meanwhile, contact the University Police Department (police@virginia.edu) to request small group sessions for your workplace or department.
