Members of the UVA Security and General Safety Committee donned warm clothing and reflective vests for the November Fall Night Tour. The group viewed areas that were submitted as possible places to enhance night safety in terms of lighting, landscaping, sidewalks, crosswalks, and signage on Grounds and in University parking lots. After the full committee reviews the findings and recommendations, they will rank areas of priority for action. The Committee reviewed more than 20 sites suggested by faculty, staff and students.
The UVA Security and General Safety Committee conducts Night Tours in the fall and spring semesters. During the Night Tour, committee members walk areas around Grounds in darkness to assess physical safety conditions.
